One of JMA Solutions’ more recent achievements was the opportunity to participate in the development of an advanced airspace management plan for commercial space operations. Previously, when a launch/reentry occurred, the airspace associated with that operation would be blocked for hours. JMA’s subject matter experts were part of a collaborative team that developed the Time-Based Launch Procedures and Dynamic Launch/Reentry Window process. This new methodology, using existing and new technology, minimized the disruption to air traffic flow caused by the ever-increasing number and variety of space operations. By integrating real-time operator launch and reentry data, the aircraft impacted by the launch, reentry, and associated hazard areas, were allowed to return to preferred routes in a timely manner.
